Lemonade-in-the Garden events of 2024
We only had 4 lemonade-in-the-garden events last year because a hailstorm destroyed many areas north of Cochrane.
Our season opened with the visit of Jane’s skillfully planned beds in four areas. Despite the intense heat,
her flowers looked very healthy in all four areas, including a vegetable garden. Her efficient use of space
and rain barrels are commendable. She displayed a variety of plants and told us how she cared for them.
Elegant and inspiring!
Later in July, we were honoured to attend Faye’s gardening party. After walking through a beautiful gate
her husband built, you enter a cleverly manicured ground, with a wide variety of flowers you won’t see
elsewhere. Faye’s garden is unique. She starts over 1,000 plants from seeds indoor and transplants them
outdoor when the weather is clement. It is bright, colourful, a carefully developed paradise.
Faye offered lemonade and delicious fancy homemade cookies pasted with edible flowers.
Absolutely gorgeous!
We were also invited at Lynda’s lemonade event. She and her husband had recently terraced their
backyard. Their place is teeming with birds, embellished with full bursting potted flowers, lilies blooming
with grace. Their new green house allows them to extend the growing season of tomatoes, strawberries and squash.
Lynda has an efficient watering system.
Delightful and promising!
Lyse was lucky not to have been hit by hail. She is located on a hill and has lot of shade from towering
Mugo pines. Still, there are roses blooming!
The weather was perfect and the company much appreciated.
“Friends are the flowers in the garden of life!”
Thank you to all who attended our lemonade-in-the-garden events in the summer 2024.
